Frequently asked questions

What is FIDO and how is it different from password-based authentication?

FIDO is a passwordless authentication standard that uses public-key cryptography. The credential is generated and stored on the authenticator (smart card, USB key); the server never sees a secret. Phishing pages cannot harvest a usable credential because the browser binds it to the legitimate origin.

Are AmbiSecure cards FIDO-certified?

Our authenticator family targets FIDO Certified L1. Specific SKUs are listed on the product pages with their current certification status. Ask engineering for the latest authoritative status against a target deployment.

Can a single OnePass Card replace both an employee badge and a security key?

Yes. The OnePass Card carries a contactless (ISO/IEC 14443) and contact (ISO/IEC 7816) interface, supports FIDO2, and is brandable with employee artwork, photo, magnetic stripe, and embossing. One card replaces both.

Do you support custom JavaCard applets?

Yes. JavaCard applet design is a core service. We design, write, load (over SCP03), and personalise both standards-driven applets (FIDO, PIV, OpenPGP) and custom applets for issuer-specific use cases. See JavaCard Development.

What MOQs do you support?

Pilot batches typically start at 100 units; production runs from 1,000 units upward. Final MOQs depend on the chip and personalisation profile chosen. Talk to us about your target volumes.

Can I get a datasheet without filling out a long form?

Yes. Email support@ambimat.com with the product name and we will reply with the datasheet in PDF.

How do I report a security issue?

Email support@ambimat.com with subject prefix “[security]”. We will respond within one business day. Coordinated disclosure is welcomed; please give us a reasonable window before public disclosure.

Where are AmbiSecure products manufactured?

We design in Ahmedabad, India, and manufacture from a network of partner fabs and assembly houses. We can disclose chip vendor identities under NDA where the customer has a legitimate supply-chain audit need.
